The Uralic (Fenno-Ugrian) World
According to the US Census Bureau the total population of the World was 6 525 170 000 people in year 2006. – Nowadays the amount of ethnic or ancestral Fenno-Ugrians can be estimated as 24 406 800 persons total. This means 0,37 per cent of the all mankind. The amount of persons speaking some Uralic language as an ethnic mother tongue is about 20 090 000 now, meaning 0,31 per cent of the total population of the World.

Suomi ja suomalaiset
Suomen tasavallan / Republiken Finland 5 300 000 asukkaasta suomea etnisenä äidinkielenään puhuvia suomalaisia on 4 700 000 (89 %). Tämän lisäksi maan kantaväestöön kuuluu 290 000 (5,5 %) suomenruotsalaista (finlandssvenskor, finländare). Lisäksi suomenvenäläiseen (42 000 henkeä, 0,80 %) ja suomenvirolaiseen (17 000 henkeä, 0,33 %) väestönosaan sisältyy ainakin 25 000 (0,47 % Suomen koko asukasluvusta) suomalaisen paluumuuttajan statuksella maahan saapunutta henkilöä. Koko maailmassa etnisesti tai alkuperältään suomenkielisiä suomalaisia elää yhteensä 6 000 000. Näistä suomen on säilyttänyt äidinkielenään 5 100 000 (85 %).
